FAQs

FAQs

What Are Composite Veneers?

Composite veneers are thin layers of synthetic material that are placed over teeth to improve their appearance. As their name suggests, they are made from composite, the same material that white dental fillings are made of. They may be fabricated directly by shaping the composite on the tooth or indirectly, using impressions of your teeth and laboratory equipment.

What Are the Benefits of Having Composite Resin Veneers?

Composite veneers are an excellent cosmetic dental solution for people with limited budgets. They can be used to improve the appearance of your smile in any way you choose, allowing you to modify the shape, structure, size, and position of certain teeth. They come in a range of different colors and can easily be matched to the color of your natural enamel for a more realistic and subtle appearance. They are also less expensive than porcelain veneers and can be applied more quickly and with fewer appointments.

Do Composite Veneers Stain?

Yes, composite veneers can become stained. This happens the same way that natural teeth stain. Particles from dark-coloured food and drink, including wine, coffee, tea, tomato sauce, soy sauce, curry sauce, and more, stick to your veneers when you consume those items.

Over time, those particles bond to the surface of the veneers and permanently change their colour. This can also happen with tobacco smoke due to the tar that is present in many cigarette products. Avoid these items to keep your veneers white and shiny for as long as possible.

Can You Whiten Composite Veneers?

To an extent, yes. Composite veneers can be polished similarly to natural teeth, which is sometimes enough to remove some surface stains. You can also sometimes lighten the teeth beneath the veneers enough to make the veneers themselves look lighter.

However, whitening composite veneers is more difficult than whitening natural teeth and results are not guaranteed. The best way to keep your veneers white is to avoid stains in the first place. Once stains set in, you will almost certainly have to get your veneers replaced to whiten your smile again.

How Are Composite Veneers Applied?

The first step in the process of applying composite veneers is to remove a thin layer of enamel from the front of your teeth. This gives the veneers enough room to adhere to your teeth without feeling too bulky.

After this, the veneers are made. While most types of veneers must be fabricated in a lab, composite veneers can be sculpted directly on the altered surface of your teeth. Your dentist may also take an impression of your teeth and have the veneers fabricated off-site instead.

Once you have approved the final look of your veneers, they are bonded directly onto the teeth using a special light. Your dentist will then touch them up slightly to perfect their shape and polish them to make them shine. By the end of the procedure, your new veneers should look almost indistinguishable from your other teeth.

How Long Do Composite Veneers Last?

Composite veneers do not last as long as porcelain veneers do – usually just 5 to 7 years instead of 10 to 15. However, you can extend the life of your veneers by taking good care of them.

Avoid opening packages or biting hard foods with your front teeth. Use tools like knives and scissors instead. If you grind your teeth at night, get a mouth guard to keep the habit from putting extra stress on your veneers. Brush your teeth regularly to avoid built-up stains.

What is IV Therapy?

IV therapy means intravenous nutrition therapy. When you receive an IV therapy treatment, you get supplemental vitamins, minerals, and amino acids to help replenish you body. IV therapy allows for 100% nutrient absorption via the blood stream, while oral supplementation only allows an average of 20% absorption of the vitamins and minerals that we all need every day. This is a benefit of IV nutrient therapy.

Is IV Therapy safe?

Yes. All our vitamins and minerals are sourced through FDA approved 503B Compounding pharmacies. All IVs are administered by an experienced registered nurse and performed under the supervision of a medical director. Before a patient receives their IV treatment, their health history is carefully evaluated.

At Haus of Smiles, IVs are given in a controlled setting. Our IV treatments are made immediately before your receive them and can be individualized for your specific needs and benefit. We are not a cookie cutter IV service.

Will IV treatments hurt?

IV treatments do not hurt! There is a pinch when the catheter first goes in, but, after that it is extremely comfortable. Our staff is highly skilled with years of medical experience – you will be in good hands.

Unexpected side effects from IV treatments are rare. Occasionally, people may experience some discomfort, bruising, itching, inflammation, or redness at or around the site of injection. This could last from a few minutes to several days. However, severe allergic reactions are extremely rare.

How often can I get an IV?

Everyone is different. Our services are on a patient-to-patient basis. Some patients receive IVs 2-3 times a week, weekly, biweekly, and/or monthly. We customize the treatment plan that best suites you, and are happy to discuss your individual situation when determining a course of treatment. We want YOU to reap the benefits.

How long does the IV treatment take?

Depending on the treatment choice it can take anywhere from 30-120 minutes. We are in a controlled clinical setting, and can adjust the rate of infusion to the most comfortable and effective rate possible. We can give more concentrated doses to help with any aches, aliments, and other health concerns.

What is Xeomin?

Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription medication injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults. Xeomin contains botulinum toxin type A, a protein purified from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.

How does Xeomin work?

When you squint or frown, the muscles between your eyebrows contract, causing the skin to furrow and fold. Over time, as your skin ages and loses some of its elasticity, these repeated contractions can cause persistent frown lines. Botulinum toxin type A – the active ingredient in Xeomin– acts on nerve endings in muscles to prevent muscle fibers from contracting. By reducing these contractions, Xeomin can temporarily reduce the lines between your eyebrows.

What should I do before my treatment?

Before receiving treatment with Xeomin, you should tell our staff about all of your medical conditions, including whether you have a disease that affects your muscles and nerves, have allergies to any botulinum toxin product, or have experienced any side effect from any other botulinum toxin in the past. In addition, inform our staff about your medical history and all the medicines you take, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Especially, inform our staff if you have received any other botulinum toxin product in the last four months or in the past.

How do I know if Xeomin is right for me?

If you are an adult with moderate to severe glabellar lines, Xeomin may be right for you. Talk to our staff to discuss the benefits and risks of treatment. Do not use Xeomin if you are allergic to botulinum toxin or any of the other ingredients in Xeomin. You should also not use Xeomin if you have had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product or have a skin infection at the planned injection site.

When can I expect to see the results of my Xeomin treatment?

You may begin to see visible smoothing as early as 3-4 days after injection. The median first onset of effect was less than a week. The maximum effect occurred at 30 days. The typical duration of effect was up to 3 months in clinical trials but may last significantly longer or shorter in individual patients.
